Everything You Need To Know About Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom Villas is the only DVC resort where your balcony looks out over a working savanna. Step outside in the morning and giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest are grazing below you — no tickets, no lines, no park gates. It's two lodges on one contract, Jambo House and Kidani Village, and both make you feel like you've left Florida entirely.

Jambo House opened in 2007 and Kidani Village followed in 2009, both built around the same idea: an African lodge that happens to sit inside Walt Disney World. Soaring lobbies, hand-carved details, and art gathered from across Africa set the tone, and cultural representatives from Africa are on hand to share the stories behind it. Villas range from studios to three-bedroom Grand Villas, and many look straight out onto the savanna — the view that owners and guests talk about long after the trip is over.

What sets this resort apart is that it works as a destination on its own. Boma, Jiko, and Sanaa are some of the most talked-about dining at Walt Disney World, there's a pool at each lodge, and evenings are spent watching animals from the lobby or the lawn. It's a slower, quieter kind of Disney trip, and it's why owners who pick Animal Kingdom tend to keep coming back to it rather than trading it in.

For buyers, the numbers are straightforward. The deed runs through 2057 and 2026 annual dues are $10.16 per point. One contract lets you book both lodges, and the 11-month home resort window applies to the whole resort. There's no walk to a theme park from here — transportation is by Disney bus — which is a big part of why Animal Kingdom is typically a more approachable price per point than the resorts closest to Magic Kingdom. If you want a resort that feels like a vacation by itself, with a real view to match, it's one of the most rewarding contracts in the system.
