Whether it’s your first trip as a DVC member or your hundredth, here are some reminders of things NOT TO DO, that can make your DVC vacation even more magical!

Don’t Break in New Shoes at the Parks

At Disney, there’s a lot of magic and a lot of walking. While the walking is great for burning off those Dole Whip cones, it is not great for your tootsies. Make sure you bring sneakers or comfortable walking shoes that are already broken in. If you don’t, Disney does have cute band-aids and Crocs for purchase, but save the band-aid money for a different souvenir at your DVC resort. Also, don’t forget to pack a spare pair of shoes to leave at your DVC resort. The Florida rain can show up at any time, and swapping shoes daily can be a break for your feet. 

Don’t Forget to Make Dining Reservations

Your ‘Ohana isn’t the only ‘Ohana that wants to eat at ‘Ohana and dining reservations can book up fast. Make sure you have your dining reservations set before you leave for your vacation. This will also help you plan out your eating throughout the day, making sure your family is fueled up to take in the most of the parks.

Don’t Over Plan

Yes, there is so much to do in each park, and depending on how many days your DVC vacation is and what time of year, you might not get to do everything on every vacation. And that’s okay! You are a DVC Member which means coming back to Disney is definitely in your future. Make sure you spend more time making memories, than you do trying to book Lightning Lane reservations on your phone. It’s true, that the thing you’ll be talking about ten years from now, is how your little one fell asleep eating a Mickey Bar- not how many rides you did in one day. 

Don’t Blow Your Budget

We know it feels like you blink at Disney and spend $100, but don’t feel like you have to spend all your money! Disney is always coming up with creative souvenirs and we know it’s hard to say no, but having a set amount of how much your budget is for souvenirs, park snacks, and dining reservations, can make the trip less stressful. Don’t be afraid to spend a little more on some unique experiences, and cut back on things you really don’t need or want.

Don’t Sleep in, Do Have a Resort Day

For most vacations, sleeping in is a huge must, but for Disney it’s a big must not. Once you’re in the parks, the last thing you want to do is leave and getting there as soon as they open can help you get shorter wait times, cooler morning temperatures, and the most bang for your buck. You don’t have to rush around like the Mad Hatter, just being in the parks you’ll feel the Disney Magic. We do know that your DVC vacation can be exhausting, leaving you wanting a vacation from your vacation- that’s why we always recommend a resort day. DVC Resorts are like no other, and only DVC members get to enjoy them the way Disney dreamed them up, so make sure to take a day to relax and truly get to know your home DVC Resort!
