Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa - Disney Vacation Club Resort Overview

Disney Vacation Club is exploding in popularity! Copper Creek is practically sold out and DVC just opened Disney’s Riviera Resort, and construction is underway on Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge, as well as plans for the construction of the DVC Tower at Disneyland Hotel.With all of this growth, it has become more critical than ever to own DVC points in the resorts at which you prefer to stay. For those new to Disney Vacation Club and the deluxe resorts, it can be difficult to compare and determine which is best for you, so we are compiling a series, detailing each Disney Vacation Club Resort to help guide you through this process and pick your favorites. We chose to begin with my absolute favorite, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The Villas at Disney’s Grand FloridianResort and Spa is abbreviated by Disney Vacation Club as VGF.

Location, Location, Location

In real estate, location is everything, and the Grand Floridian happens to be next door to the premier real estate in the world, the Magic Kingdom. One aspect making it so popular is the direct access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Transportation to Epcot consists of the monorail and buses, however to the Magic Kingdom, you can take the monorail, a relaxing 7 minute water taxi ride, busses, and soon you will even be able to enjoy a 10 minute walk to the home of Cinderella’s Castle, as it is currently under construction. The GrandFloridian is one of only three resorts with monorail access and will soon be only one of two within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom.The DVC Villas are located in their own building next to the Grand Floridian Resort with a covered walkway connecting them to the main resort building.

Lobby

The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa’s exquisite Victorian theming will transport you into the world of Mary Poppins, with its remarkable dancing penguin fountain and in the center of the lobby, with ornate emerald chandeliers hanging high above. The Victorian era Mary Poppins theming continues throughout the common areas and into the stunning villas.

Villas

There are four types of villas at the Grand Floridian.

• Deluxe Studios: Deluxe studios sleep 5, with a queen-size bed, a queen pull-out sofa, and a twin-size pull-down bed. There is a small seating area and a kitchenette with a mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Deluxe studios have a split bathroom, so there is a walk-in shower on one side as well as a tub with shower on the other.

• One-Bedroom Villas: Sleeping 5, the private bedroom has a king-size bed, while the living room has a queen pull-out sofa and twin pull down bed. One-bedroom villas have a split bathroom with a large soaking tub and walk-in shower. The fully equipped kitchen with all appliances, and dining room has everything you need to prepare meals and dine in the comfort of your villa.

• Two-Bedroom Villas: Sleeping 9, the two-bedroom villas are essentially a one-bedroom villa with a second private bedroom, featuring two queen-size beds, along with its own second bathroom. The two-bedroom villa also has an extra half-bath. The Grand Floridian also has two-bedroom lock-offs, which are a one-bedroom villa with a connecting door to a deluxe studio.
• Three-Bedroom Grand Villas: Sleeping 13, the three-bedroom grand villas at the Grand Floridian are DVC’s largest. These luxurious, 2800 square foot villas feel like your own private penthouse suite on Disney property, with three private bedrooms, a full-size living room, a dining room with an incredible table for 12, a spacious kitchen, and the Grand Floridian has the only three-bedroom Grand Villas with an additional media room. These villas have 3.5 baths, with a king-size bed in the master suite, two queens in each additional bedroom, a queen pullout sofa, and a pull-out twin.

Views

Disney Vacation Club Members at the Grand Floridian can choose from Standard or Lake views. Standard view villas look out to the front and sides of the villas with potential views of the main Grand Floridian resort and the monorail. Lake view villas look out over the Seven Seas Lagoon where you can watch the Electric Water Pageant, with some having views of the Magic Kingdom.

Amenities, Recreation and Checkin

• Pools: Grand Floridian guests can enjoy the resort’s 2 pools and kid’s splash area. The main pool at the resort, the tranquil Courtyard Pool, is the only pool on Disney property not aimed at kids.
• Dining: Throughout this elegant Victorian resort, dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner abound and are sure to please any palate. Options include Gasparilla Island Grill, Grand Floridian Cafe, 1900 Park Fare, Citricos, Narcoossee’s, Victoria & Albert’s, Garden View Tea Room, Beaches Pool Bar & Grill, Courtyard Pool Bar, the Beauty & the Beast inspired Enchanted Rose bar, and of course Disney Resorts Room Service.
• Checkin: DVC Members & Guests have the convenience of checking in at the front desk of the Villas at the Grand Floridian between 7am and 10pm. If you’re checking in before 7am or after 10pm, you’ll need to do so at the front desk of the main Grand Floridian building. Dedicated Bell Services are offered at DVC’s Villas at the Grand Floridian.
• Transportation: Transportation options, including the Magical Express, monorail, busses and water taxi are all located at the main resort building. It should be noted that DVC Members & Guests staying at the Villas at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa must walk to the Grand Floridian main lobby for all food and beverage locations.
