You're excited to buy resale DVC, save money compared to buying direct and plan decades of magical vacations at Disney destinations. You've done the research and know your desired Home Resort. You've picked out a point value that will work for the length of time you like to vacation and determined a use year that matches up well with when you like to vacation. There's still a question to consider if you haven't already. What are the select Disney Resort hotels that a DVC resale member may not use their points on? It's good to be informed and know the ins and outs of DVC before you jump in. Note that as new Disney Vacation Club properties debut they may or may not be available for resale DVC Members to book with points.

What are the select Disney Resort hotels that a DVC resale Member may not use their points on?

At this time, things are pretty clear and easy when it comes to booking Disney resort stays with your DVC points whether you buy resale or direct. Booking at resorts other than your Home Resort is when one particular issue may arise. When you buy resale DVC, you can book eleven months out at your Home Resort just like direct Members. With resale you can book seven months out at all other resorts except for one. Disney's Riviera Resort is the tricky one. If you buy resale DVC with Riviera as your Home Resort, you can only use your points to book there. It works the other way too. If you buy resale DVC points with a home resort anywhere but Riviera, you can't use your points to book a stay at Riviera. Aside from these interesting Disney's Riviera Resort caveats, all other existing resorts as of February 2022 don't have extra booking exceptions like this.

Which hotels are part of Disney Vacation Club?

It's also good to note that not all Disney Resort Hotels are Disney Vacation Club Resorts! The current Disney Vacation Club Resort properties at Walt Disney World Resort are Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's Boardwalk Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Disney's Riviera Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. There is also Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in California at Disneyland Resort, Disney's Vero Beach Resort in Vero Beach, Florida, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii.

Which hotels are not part of Disney Vacation Club?

There are many resorts at Walt Disney World that are Value and Moderate tier resorts and DVC is only found at Deluxe tier resorts. The following Disney Resort hotels are not Disney Vacation Club Resorts and, therefore, can not be booked using resale DVC points although some are available to book with direct DVC points through the Disney Collection, however at nearly double the amount of points per night that are required by DVC Resorts: Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, Disney's All-Star Music Resort, Disney's All-Star Sports Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort including Gran Destino Tower, Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter, Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside, the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin and Shades of Green Military Resort at Walt Disney World are not Disney Vacation Club Resort properties. The ones that always surprise me are the Grand Destino Tower and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. These two both seem like they align with Disney Vacation Club accommodations but, alas, they are not DVC and can not be booked with points.
