Walt Disney World Reveals Design For a 50th Anniversary License Plate and the Proceeds Benefit a Great Cause

Disney has slowly been releasing details on what they have planned for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration later this year. The design for the license plates, which features a Cinderella Castle logo with a “50” in the middle, uses the blue, purple, and gold “EARidescent” color scheme Disney is using throughout the parks for the anniversary celebration. “Florida” is written across the top of the plate in gold letters and “Walt Disney World” is spelled out across the bottom.One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the anniversary license plates will benefit Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida and their ongoing efforts to grant “magical” wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Disney has worked closely with Make-A-Wish since 1980 and has granted more than 140,000 Disney-inspired wishes, including thousands at Walt Disney World. Photo Courtesy of Walt Disney WorldPresale vouchers are currently available at a cost of $25 (plus any applicable fees) through your local Florida County Tax Collector’s Office, DMV, or online through the Orange County Tax Collector’s Office. There is one catch. A minimum of 3,000 presale vouchers must be sold in order for the plates to be manufactured. At the time of writing this story, Disney fans have already purchased more than half of the vouchers needed to make this dreamy license plate a reality, but if you want to deck out your car for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, don’t delay.In addition to this specialty license plate, Disney announced in February that the 50th anniversary celebration would begin 50 years to the day of the park’s opening on October 1, 1971 and run for 18 straight months. “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” will feature new experiences, shimmering new duds for Mickey and Minnie, and new bunting and embellishments for Cinderella Castle.
