While many of the DVC resorts have similar activities, like those found in the community halls, some properties have unique offerings. These free activities at DVC resorts are great to plan into your arrival or departure days or when you just need or want some more relaxed, resort time.

Free DVC Resort Activities at Disney World

Disney is known for high prices but not everything costs a lot. Some resort activities are even free.

Enjoy Disney Resort Community Hall Activities for Free

The little ones in your party can enjoy the simple things like coloring, games, movies and crafts at DVC community hall spaces. This is a great option for rainy days. Some craft projects have an additional cost but it's always clearly marked. Disney says the following resorts have community halls:

• Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Community Hall
• Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village Community Hall
• Disney's BoardWalk Villas Ferris W. Eahlers Community Hall
• Disney's Old Key West Resort Conch Flats Community Hall
• Disney’s Riviera Resort Eventi Room
• Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa Community Hall

You don't have to be a DVC Member for these.

Any guest of the resort can enjoy the Disney community halls.

Watch Fireworks at Your DVC Resort

Sometimes you just need a break from the crowds at the parks. Firework viewing can be one of the more congested experiences you have on your trip with so many people in the same place at once. Resort time can be more relaxed and give you a break from the masses.

Watching fireworks from your resort, can also give you a head start on getting to sleep. You can avoid exiting the park with everyone else by choosing a firework viewing spot at a resort instead of the middle of Main Street U.S.A. Many locations also play the show music!

You'll love the views of fireworks from the Polynesian and other Magic Kingdom area resorts.

Enjoy a Wilderness Lodge Ranger Tour

On your way in, you may notice a cast member whose costume resembles a National Park Ranger. Those hats are so recognizable, aren't they? This is actually a greeter position and this person tends to know a lot about the resort and lobby in particular. You can take a free, hour long tour of the lobby with the ranger. These are offered in the mornings and there's no sign up necessary. Just meet in front of the lobby's beautiful, large fireplace and the tour will usually start at 9:00 a.m.

Check with the front desk at the time of your visit for days the complimentary experience is offered.

This is a walking and standing tour, typically filled with information about the lobby's incredible architecture and history. For those who use a wheelchair or would like to avoid stairs, there is an elevator in the lobby that you can use to access higher levels should the tour go up a floor.

Depending on your ranger, it's possible you may also visit the Carolwood Pacific Room in the Boulder Ridge Villas building.

Did you know the American flag in the lobby doesn't have fifty stars? That's because a flag that is era appropriate was chosen to represent the time period the lodge is placed in.

Seasonal & Other Free Activities at DVC Resorts

These little adventures may be quick or simple. Sometimes that's when the best memories are made. Especially when they align with your favorite characters or other interests.

Some activities are only available seasonally or at certain times of the year.

• Take a walk, or a golf cart ride if you've rented one, around Fort Wilderness to enjoy the over the top Halloween or Christmas decorations other guests put up. Those with campers have been known to create surprisingly detailed displays.
• Those staying at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness may also enjoy the festive golf cart parades put on by guests for holidays like Independence Day and Halloween.
• During the holidays, take the monorail around the Magic Kingdom resort loop and see the gingerbread displays.
• Guess the names of the horses in the portraits in the lobby at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. This art was part of the last refurbishment and features Disney character horses from different movies.
• Some resorts have scavenger hunts! Talk to a cast member at the front desk about what's available at your resort.
