Note that all Disney Vacation Club Resorts are Deluxe Resorts which can open a whole new world of magic when compared to staying at a Value or Moderate Resort.

What Are the Benefits of Using DVC Points?

Free parking at your resort

This can be good for quite a bit of savings. Parking at Walt Disney World Resort hotels in the Deluxe tier is now $25.00 per night. For a long stay of 10 nights, that comes out to a savings of $250.00. That can pay for two meals for two at 'Ohana! A Member of the PlanDisney panel shares this in regards to when you can receive the free parking benefit: 'Disney Vacation Club Members receive complimentary overnight parking at their resort when staying at any Walt Disney World Resort using their Membership. This would include a stay in a villa booked with Vacation Points or any standard room booked with Reservation Points. Members also receive complimentary overnight parking when staying in Deluxe Villa Accommodations when paying cash.' 

Over at Disneyland Resort, self parking at The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is $35 per night, with oversized vehicle self parking at $40 per night, for each vehicle. In regards to DVC Members planDisney says, 'Disney Vacation Club Members booking a Points reservation at the Grand Californian can self-park up to two vehicles with no daily charge.'

Free parking at the parks

Remember resort stays come with their own special perks that are still included when you are using DVC points. Any time you stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you get free parking at the theme parks whether you use DVC points or not. This is especially valuable. If you're enjoying the parks 5 days on your trip, at $25 per day or $30 for oversize vehicles, that would be well over $100 saved in parking.

Deluxe resorts have more amenities

Using DVC points to book at Deluxe Disney Resort hotels means more magic. Deluxe tier properties have incredible amenities you'll want to enjoy. In addition to massages and other treatments, The Grand Floridian Spa has a sauna and heated tile chairs. That's certainly worth some of your vacation time. Disney's Wilderness Lodge has boat rentals for fun in the sun on Bay Lake and Disney's Beach Club Resort has the best pool at Walt Disney World. Animal Kingdom Lodge has incredible animal viewing on their own savanna. It might be beautiful grounds worth exploring or design unique to your resort that makes using DVC points that much more exciting. Plus, many DVC resorts have firework views. And with exquisite dining right at your DVC resort, you'll have plenty of delicious options to choose from. All of this extra magic isn't available at all resorts. The amenities are just another reason using DVC points at Disney Vacation Club Resorts, which are all Deluxe, is exciting.

Disney transportation is more fun with DVC

When you stay at a Deluxe resort, it's likely you'll have an amazing location close to a park, often with additional, convenient or unique Disney transportation options. For example, guests of Disney's Riviera Resort can fly to Epcot or Hollywood Studios using the Disney Skyliner. Guests of The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa can take a walking path, monorail or boat to Magic Kingdom.

Community halls provide extra space to enjoy

Disney Vacation Club Resorts are more likely to have a community hall type area. This is a space at resorts where guests can go to enjoy activities, play games, read books, watch Disney movies or just relax. Options will vary in each space but they are all fun to explore. DVC means pool hopping

Pool hopping, which also goes by the official name Complimentary Alternative Pool Use, is a Disney Vacation Club Member benefit. Not all pools are included so don't get your hopes up for Stormalong Bay unless you're staying at Disney's Beach Club Villas. However, it's a fun option to be able to enjoy a pool day at properties like Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Boardwalk Villas for a change if you're staying somewhere else. DVC also notes, 'Complimentary alternative pool use (pool hopping) is not considered a Membership Extra. This benefit is offered to all Disney Vacation Club Members, regardless of how they purchased.' That's great news for those who purchase resale.
