So you’ve decided to buy a resale Disney Vacation Club contract and save thousands when compared to buying direct. Awesome! This next part is really fun. Choosing a DVC home resort is personal and a special part of the process. With so many great resorts to choose from, you may have more than one favorite. And so, we present these tips for choosing a DVC home resort.

Tips For Choosing a DVC Home Resort

Below are some things to consider when choosing a DVC home resort, categories if you will. Some may not be important to you while others may help you decide on a resort. Spending a few minutes thinking about your ideal vacation might help you clearly outline your priorities. What does your perfect vacation look like? Are days by the pool a must? Does a short walk back from the park entice you? Would you be delighted to have the perfect breakfast spot on your resort property? All things to think about.

DVC Resort Location

The location of a DVC resort can be a great deciding factor. If you know your travel party loves to rope drop Magic Kingdom, being close by can be a great help. Walking to Magic Kingdom from The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort can save you time. These resorts, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are also just a boat ride away. And don’t forget the monorail.

The same goes for Epcot and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas and Disney’s Beach Club Villas. Proximity to your favorite places to be can help you pick the right Disney Vacation Club property.

Resort Transportation

Right up there with location is the transportation offered at a resort. Properties like Disney’s Riviera Resort have special transportation options that get you where you’re going faster and with more ease. We’re talking about the Disney Skyliner. Many properties just use a bus system. This is convenient but there’s something extra special about the monorail or resort boat transport. When you’re staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, the International Gateway entrance and exit at Epcot is your best friend. This entrance is just steps from your resort. However, there is a boat that will take you from this Epcot exit to the dock at BoardWalk which is centrally located. Some resorts are close enough to walk to which is always nice. Imagine taking a short walk back to Bay Lake Tower after a long night out at a late Magic Kingdom special event.

Disney Vacation Club Resort Theming

The theme of a resort can also help you decide which is right for you. If the palm trees and pastel buildings at Disney’s Old Key West Resort bring you instant relaxation, that may be a sign. Maybe the Grand Floridian’s crisp, Victorian era vibes feel like home. You know what you like and if the design and interiors are important to you, the theme can hold a lot of weight in your decision making process.

Pools at DVC Resorts

If your family is always looking for the next best water slide, you’re in the right place. Pools at DVC resorts are themed, beautifully landscaped and make for a great oasis of relaxation and fun. Many think Disney’s Beach Club Villa’s Stormalong Bay is the best pool at Walt Disney World. Bay Lake Tower’s Bay Cove Pool has splendid views of Bay Lake and the surrounding wooded areas. Finding the resort with the pool you like the most may help you choose a home resort.

DVC Resort Dining

Having excellent dining options can be a real plus for foodies. We have a dining guide for each resort, showcasing restaurants and memorable meals. Imagine waking up with Topolino’s Terrace as a convenient dining option at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas have some of the best restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort with flavorful buffet Boma and scenic, savanna view Sanaa.

DVC Resort Price

If you have a specific budget, price may help you decide which resort is best for you. Maybe the resort isn’t as important as how long the points you purchase allow you to stay there. If a week-long trip is a must, and you want to stay under a certain dollar amount, per point prices and point charts will be your friend.

A point chart will help you understand how long a certain amount of points will allow you to stay at your home resort at different times throughout the year. With resale, you’re already choosing to get the most for your money. Finding the home resort you like that also aligns with your budget and wishes can help you decide.

It’s also important to consider annual dues in the cost of DVC. These typically increase a little bit each year but vary by resort.
