The Duo Studios are unique in that they don't have a stand alone bed in the room. Instead, they have a pull down, queen size bed. Many Disney Vacation Club resorts now have a pull down murphy bed instead of a pullout couch. These are more comfortable, convenient and easier to set up.

It's nice that even though the room is smaller, there is still a portion of the couch to sit on when the bed is pulled down. If one of you is up late, or early, you still have a comfortable place to lounge indoors if the person with you is still in bed.

Does the Polynesian Duo Studio have a refrigerator?

No, the Duo Studio does not have a fridge. There is a beverage cooler which is slightly different. It's meant to keep drinks cool and may not be suitable for leftovers or other refrigerated items.

Does the Duo Studio have a split bathroom?

The Duo Studio does not have a split bathroom. The mirror and sink are kind of out in the open in these rooms. It's just inside the door when you walk in. The shower and toilet are in a separate, closed bathroom just across from the sink and mirrors.

What kind of shower does the Duo Studio have?

You'll notice many DVC rooms now have a walk-in shower with a seat. These spa style bathrooms are a hit with Members. Surprisingly, the Duo Studio doesn't have a seat but it does have a waterfall shower head.

How many points are the Duo Studios at Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows?

Duo Studios start at 12 points per night for a standard view. They can go up to 43 points per night depending on the view and time of year. See the DVC Polynesian point chart for more information in detail. These may cost less than other rooms but there are also less of them so they might be harder to book.

Do the Duo Studios at the Polynesian have firework views?

Duo Studios at the Polynesian technically don't have firework views. These rooms come in Standard View, Preferred View and Premium View but not Theme Park View which would provide firework views.

However, depending on which Duo Studio you stay in, you may still be able to see fireworks from your balcony. Especially if you peer the direction of the castle.

DVC For Two: Which Disney World resorts have Duo Studios?

This isn't a common room type but the Island Tower is not the only place you can book a Duo Studio. There are Duo Studios at Disney's Riviera Resort too. That's where they debuted at Walt Disney World Resort actually.

The Villas at Disneyland Hotel out west in California also has the Duo Studio villa room type.

Can you stay in the Island Tower with DVC resale?

Disney Vacation Club is the Disney timeshare. Many Members purchase a resale contract which is one a Member is selling. You can purchase and take over one of these contracts and it becomes fully yours.

There are a few differences between resale and direct DVC purchases. The biggest, aside from the price, may be the flexibility with booking. Some resorts don't allow you to use resale points unless they are your home resort.

The exciting thing about the new Island Tower building is that it's technically not a new DVC resort. The home resort at the Polynesian is Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. The Island Tower is an expansion of that home resort. That means anyone who purchases resale there, or at any of the other original 14 DVC resorts, can use their points to book rooms like Duo Studios or any other Polynesian DVC rooms that are available.

If you purchase resale at newer resorts, like Disney's Riviera Resort, The Villas at Disneyland Hotel or The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, you are not able to use those points at the Polynesian. Any Member who purchases resale at one of the first 14 DVC home resorts can't use their points to book at these newer properties either.
