Disney's Magical Express was a one of a kind service that helped Walt Disney World Resort visitors start their vacation at the airport. The service has been gone for years, much to the disappointment of many Disney goers. However in early 2025, Disney quietly launched a luggage transfer program for certain resorts. So what does this mean? Is Magical Express coming back to Disney? No such announcement has been made but it would make a lot of people really happy! Is Disney's Magical Express Back?

Will you be able to take Disney's Magical Express (DME) on your next trip? With Disney again handling the heavy lifting (of luggage) many are wondering if Disney's Magical Express is coming back.

At this time, Disney hasn't shared anything specific to point to the DME returning.

As of April 2025, Disney's Magical Express is not back. However, the airport luggage transfer program that was reintroduced at Disney World does have people questioning if that's the first step to bringing it back. The airport shuttle and luggage transfer were coupled in the past.

Getting the luggage transfer part back on track would be a logical first step to reviving the DME.

What is Disney Magical Express?

Disney's Magical Express was a service for guests of Disney resort hotels. This included Disney Vacation Club Members. Your luggage would be taken care of and magically transported to your resort as you were chauffeured to Disney via motor coach. Parents didn't have to worry about car seats or handling bags. The fun started right away as Disney stepped in to manage transportation details. Then your luggage could be brought to your room when you were ready for it later that day.

At the end of your trip, you could check in to your flight and check your bags at your resort. Disney picked you up and took you to the airport. Services like these helped create what many call the Disney bubble. All of this ended in 2022 when Disney cancelled the Magical Express and these related services.

A Brief History and Timeline of the Magical Express at Disney

• In January of 2021, Disney announced the Magical Express would take its final guests on December 31 of the same year.
• Starting in 2022, no official complimentary Disney transportation service to or from the airport was offered. Similarly, accompanying luggage transfer services were also discontinued at this time.
• A few companies that provide motor coach transport between MCO and Disney World launched offerings at this time including Mears Connect who had previously provided the service for Disney.
• From 2022 until April of 2025, no official airport shuttle or luggage transport services were widely offered through Disney.
• In April of 2025, Disney World began offering Southwest Airlines customers staying at value resorts the opportunity to check their luggage. From Disney:

"Beginning April 3, 2025, if you are staying at select Disney Resort hotels, you can drop your checked baggage off with Luggage Assistance to be delivered directly to your flight.

Currently, this pilot service is available at Disney Value Resort hotels for Guests with Southwest Airlines flights departing from Orlando International Airport (MCO)."

When the free airport transportation option Magical Express was cancelled, Disney cited the reason was that consumers wanted more choice. The service was never mandatory though and guests always had the option to use whichever mode of transportation best suited them.

How long does it take to get from Disney to airport?

The main Orlando airport, MCO, is about 30 minutes from Disney World. This can change to be closer to an hour during morning and evening rush hour periods, especially on Friday nights and weekends.

Is there a free shuttle from Orlando airport to Disney World?

There isn't a free Disney airport shuttle anymore. Many visitors use the following options:
