Pros of Disney's Beach Club

The biggest pro of Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Villas is the incredible pool Stormalong Bay. This is really a water play complex that’s fantastically themed in the way only Disney does. A large shipwrecked pirate ship houses the pool slide that cruises over a walkway and into one of the biggest pools at Walt Disney World. Another section of this beautiful outdoor amenity has a sand bottom pool. A small lazy river sits in the center of it all. It’s stunning and the highlight of a stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort for many.

The location of Disney’s Beach Club will be a highlight for many visitors. For those interested in early mornings, long days or late nights at Epcot Beach Club is a dream. The Disney Vacation Club building at Beach Club literally backs up to Epcot. While, there aren’t firework views particularly from these rooms, they are so close it’s unreal. This may be the resort that’s closest to any theme park. When you stay at Beach Club you also have fast access to the Disney Skyliner. This opens up lots of dining options at other resorts and adds quick rides over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Beach Club Resort is also located across from Disney’s Boardwalk Villas and is just a beautiful walk, or boat ride, away.

Dining at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a highlight as well. This is one of the properties that has a character meal at a Disney resort. At breakfast you’ll love visiting with Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Donald Duck all in beachwear. This is one of the more relaxed character meals at Disney and the characters really take their time at each table. There’s also a great food selection here.

At night they offer a regular buffet, with no characters, loaded with seafood and other options. More dining of note at Beach Club includes Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. This feels like a classic soda fountain and has burgers, shakes, ice cream and more. Beaches & Cream is one of the most popular Disney restaurants with the famous  kitchen sink dessert. It has many scoops of ice cream and lots of toppings including a whole can of whip cream.

During the holidays, Disney’s Beach club resort is one with special decorations. The deluxe resorts at Disney all do a beautiful job with decorations, but some have special displays. Beach Club has a one of a kind gingerbread display in the lobby along with special treats that are sold for the season. It changes each year so you always have something to look forward to in that way if you're a Member here.

What does when it was built have to do with the pros and cons Disney's Beach Club has to consider? The opening date of the DVC resort determines what's possible with the contract when you buy DVC resale. Purchasing Disney Vacation Club points on the DVC resale market makes it possible to save thousands compared to buying from Disney directly. The one thing to know is that there are some restrictions with resale. Some DVC resorts have more resale restrictions than others. When you buy resale at one of the original 14 DVC resorts you are able to use your points to stay at any of the other properties in that category based on availability. If you were to buy at a newer resort, like Disney's Riviera Resort, this would not be the case. You can only use resale points at your home resort when you buy resale at Riviera.

Cons of Disney's Beach Club

There isn't actually a beach.

One of the cons of Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Villas is that there isn’t actually a beach. Walt Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida which is in the center of the state. The name might be confusing for some. There isn’t even lake beach access at Disney’s Beach Club. The lake it’s located on is used for transportation and it’s very beautiful. It isn’t suitable for swimming though. There is a nice sandy beach area on the water that you can enjoy with hammocks and lounge chairs. The Beach Club theme really refers to the interior and exterior aesthetics. Disney’s Beach Club Villas has a coastal feel with muted pastels.

Beach Club is smaller than other resorts in some ways.

Disney's Beach Club Resort feels smaller than other properties in some ways. The lobby is gorgeous but smaller than the biggest like those at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa or Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Beach Club is connected to Disney's Yacht Club Resort so you may find yourself walking there to use some amenities like the restaurants. It's nice to have the selection nearby but it's not actually at your resort. For example, if you want a latte you'll have to go to Yacht Club's quick service. The quick service restaurant at Beach Club is located in a store and doesn't offer specialty coffees. The resort size may not be a pro or con of Disney Beach Club depending on what you like.
