The following information is commentary based on DVC Resales Experts data from the first half of the calendar year. If you're selling a DVC Membership this year, here's what you need to know. What Selling a DVC Membership in 2024 is Like

Are people still buying resale DVC?

Yes, people are still buying and selling DVC Memberships in 2024. During any election year, there may be pause from consumers when it comes to making big decisions of any kind. It's true with buying and selling Disney Vacation Club points as well. This is simply because any kind of change, or potential change, can cause people to hesitate. Still, people are buying resale DVC points.

Then there are the current high interest rates for loans. This is not deterring all potential buyers though.

Our 2024 data so far does not show a notable downward shift in sales compared to the previous calendar year. 

Which DVC resort sells for the highest per point price in 2024?

This answer is always a little skewed because of the unique Disney Vacation Club situation at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has a smaller capacity of DVC villas. It is also one of just two DVC resorts at Disneyland Resort in California. These details add to the draw of these points as they're hard to find on the DVC resale market.

The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has the highest per point DVC resale price in 2024 at an average of around $257 so far this year.

This number is well above the rest of the resorts due to its unique circumstances.

Aside from this property, the highest DVC resale per point prices have been at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at around $155.

Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club Villas and Copper Creek Villas are all next with per point prices between $130 and $135 on average for the first half of 2024.

Which DVC resort sells for the lowest per point price in 2024?

We see the lowest per point prices at resorts outside of Disney Parks destinations.

At the halfway mark, Disney's Vero Beach Resort has the lowest per point price on average at around $54.

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is also regularly the next to lowest. 

Disney's Old Key West Resort is consistently one of the lowest per point resorts on the resale market and the lowest at Disney World. That's true so far this year as well. 

Understanding Selling Your DVC Membership and How Prices Work

Other details of a contract vary by resort and can change the overall point value quite a bit.

Some other things to consider aside from per point prices are:

• The DVC resort expiration dates play quite the role in overall value. A resort may be popular but if it has fewer years left on the contract, potential buyers may not consider it as valuable.
• The varying DVC maintenance fees (2024) for each resort. We see properties like Disney's Vero Beach Resort have low per point prices but high dues because of maintenance costs associated with the location. Vero Beach has the highest dues in 2024 at $13.86 per point. For a 150 point contract, an owner at Disney's Vero Beach Resort pays $2079 in annual dues in 2024.
• The amount of points on the contract changes the per point price. In general you can think more points have a lower cost per point and fewer points have a higher cost per point.

What if I'm interested in selling DVC Membership but don't see a contract like mine listed?

This could actually be a good thing. If you don't see a contract at your resort or at your point value, it may be one that's more rare. Someone on the DVC Resale Experts Buyer Wish List could be waiting for a contract like yours. 

It's nice to be able to see the prices of other contracts like yours when selling DVC Membership. Some just don't come around as often though. The Experts would love to provide a complimentary contract valuation for you based on the specifics of your contract. This is more accurate than comparing yours to other contracts that are listed. 

Can You Sell DVC Membership Quickly

How long it takes to sell DVC contracts firmly depends on the home resort and number of points on the contract. Once a buyer and seller reach an agreement, the sale moves along. However, finding a buyer is the biggest variable in how long it takes to sell a contract. Some rare DVC resale market contracts are always in demand and sell quickly. DVC Resale Experts has a wishlist with potential buyers waiting for the right contract to be listed.

How is DVC ROFR going in 2024?

The Right of First Refusal is a contract detail that allows Disney to purchase contracts back if they so choose. This happens at the same agreed upon price a buyer and seller have reached. It's not quite as common these days but it is possible Disney might buy a contract back instead of letting it go through to the buyer on the resale market.

In 2024, Disney's Old Key West has been DVC Resale Experts most popular buy back.

There have been a few at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa as well.

Frequently Asked Questions Related to Selling DVC Membership

Selling DVC Membership on Your Own: Is it possible?

In the same way that it's possible to sell a home without a real estate agent, you can sell DVC points on your own. You'll be responsible for finding a buyer and keeping the ball rolling on the different steps needed to legally complete the process. Without having their own resale DVC department, Disney is unable to help you aside from providing basic information about your contract.

Can I sell my DVC Membership through Disney?

To some, selling DVC points back to Disney seems like it could be the best option. If you bought from the company and had a good experience, you may look to them to sell your contract. Unfortunately this isn't possible. Disney Vacation Club does not have a resale department. DVC has Member Services to assist Members but does not have a department dedicated to resale. They can provide information about your contract needed to sell it. However, they can't sell DVC timeshare through resale for you.

Can DVC Member services help if I want to sell my DVC points?

Member Services can help with items like questions about using your Membership, changing your address, assistance with vacation planning and password resets. Member Services even has an online chat feature you can use to update reservation requests, bank points and ask questions. You will also be able to ask Disney Vacation Club Member Services about information needed to sell points.

In order to determine your contract value and sell Disney points you need to know how many points are available on your Membership. That's something you may need to refer to the DVC website for. Other details, like point value are listed on your contract. The number of points available fluctuates depending on how many you have used.

How many points are available has a role in the value of your contract when selling DVC Membership. It makes a difference if someone is able to get an extra trip on your contract or not.

Is selling DVC online a thing?

It is possible to sell your points online. You do not have to go to Disney World to sell your DVC contract. Portions of the process must be notarized. That's really the only requirement that's not online.

Is selling DVC points back to Disney an option?

While it may be possible to sell Disney Vacation Club points back to Disney at times, it's not likely you'll get the best return. Disney does sometimes buy contracts back through the Right of First Refusal process but that's not as common in 2024.
