After Disney World closed and reopened, many things were missing and noted as Temporarily Unavailable. As time passed, additional offerings returned but many did not. It took years for the Grand Floridian to get popular favorite restaurants like Victoria and Albert's and 1900 Park Fare back open. The Grand Floridian had some changes prior to this in 2019 with the introduction of Enchanted Rose Lounge on the second floor of the lobby. A major transformation started at the property in the early 2020s. Restaurants, rooms and other parts of the property were completely redone. In 2025, the resort is still in refurbishment limbo with the lobby refreshed but still in the classic style. So what about the beloved tea room? Is the Grand Floridian tea room open in 2025? Here's everything you need to know about the Garden View Tea Room.  

 Is the Grand Floridian tea room open in 2025?

As of March 2025, the Grand Floridian tea room is not open. It is still listed as "Temporarily Unavailable" on Disney's website. The Garden View Lounge wall sign with Twinings on the bottom is still up next to this venue but the restaurant has been closed since Disney World closed in 2020. The Grand Floridian tea room never reopened.

It does appear to be renovated however. During the 2024 holiday season, the former tea room was open for guests to visit. It served as a lounge without service. It was basically a place to sit, relax and enjoy your treats from the gingerbread house. No cast members were there, it was just an extension of the lobby during this time.

Why is the Grand Floridian tea room still closed?

It is puzzling why such a popular offering would still be closed at this point. The Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian has remained closed since 2020 without explanation. All we can assume is that the Grand Floridian tea room still isn't open because Disney is remodeling. Years ago, Disney announced the Grand Floridian construction would be moving to the lobby. This is after every building had a new roof put on, rooms were updated and a building was converted into additional Disney Vacation Club rooms.

When Disney leadership changed from Bob Chapek back to Bob Iger, certain things were paused around Disney destinations. Could that be part of the hold up? It seemed the lobby refurbishment was moving forward. Then things stopped around this time. The ceiling was painted in the lobby but the iconic character tile flooring remains.

The tea room looks updated with fresh carpeting and furniture. It just hasn't opened yet.

When is the Garden View Tea Room opening at the Grand Floridian?

Sadly, Disney has not shared an opening date for this beloved location. We can anticipate the Garden View Tea Room reopening at some point since it is listed as Temporarily Unavailable. However, no time frame has been listed to look forward to.

Are the rest of the Grand Floridian restaurants open?

For context, here are how the rest of the restaurants opened after the pandemic closure. The Grand Floridian was left with a small number of places to eat when it reopened. The NBA had taken this resort over during the season they played at Walt Disney World Resort. Then it seemed Disney wanted to refurbish some restaurants before reopening them.

• The Gasparilla Island Grill quick service and the Grand Floridian Cafe table service restaurant reopened fairly quickly.
• Later, a refurbished Citricos debuted, taking inspiration from Mary Poppins Returns. 
• It took years for a refurbished Victoria and Albert's to reopen.
• Then, finally in 2024, 1900 Park Fare also reopened completely refurbished with new characters to meet even.
• Construction reached the lobby years ago but the tea room has been quietly waiting for its big moment.
