Walt Disney himself had a plan for his parks to continue to evolve. We've seen a lot of changes at Walt Disney World Resort over the last few decades. It's always exciting when something new is built. On the contrary, replacing rides, or closing them, can be met with a lot of disappointment from Disney visitors. There have been some big announcements about what's coming to Disney World over the next few years. Some of those new offerings will actually replace current attractions. So what is closing at Disney World in 2025? What's closing in Disney World soon? What's going away in the next few years? We have a look at what rides you can expect to say goodbye to on your next trip.
What's Closing in Disney World in 2025? 2026?
Some of these we don't have exact dates or time frames for. We do know that they are closing based on what Disney has shared though.
It's Tough to be a Bug! at Animal Kingdom
The long running It's Tough to be a Bug! show at Disney's Animal Kingdom will soon be replaced. This is the 4D film experience inside the Tree of Life Theater. Flik and other bugs have been entertaining guests here since the park opened in 1998.
When is It's Tough to be a Bug! closing?
The last day for It's Tough to be a Bug! is March 16th, 2025. It will close permanently on March 17th, 2025.
Why is It's Tough to be a Bug! closing?
A new Zootopia attraction is replacing It's Tough to be a Bug. Disney says Zootopia: Better Zoogether! will take over the Tree of Life Theater when the show debuts in winter 2025. This could mean late 2025 or early 2026. Zootopia 2 comes out in theaters on November 26th of 2025 so it could possibly include elements from the second film as well.
Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom
Big changes are happening at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. A new addition will bring more Encanto at Disney World along with an Indiana Jones attraction. Unfortunately, it will all replace Dinoland U.S.A.
When is Dinoland closing?
Some parts of Dinoland U.S.A., like the carnival area, are scheduled to close. TriceraTop Spin and Fossil Fun Games will close permanently on January 13th, 2025.
No closing date has been shared for the Dinosaur attraction but we know the entire land is closing eventually. The clock is ticking toward extinction. Disney has shared that Dinosaur will stay open all of 2025 though.
Why is Dinoland closing?
The Dinosaur attraction and Dinoland are closing to make way for the tropical Americas land Disney has planned for the park. The current concept of the land was announced at the D23 event in California in August of 2023. The opening of the tropical Americas is supposed to be 2027 though on stage Imagineer Bruce Vaughn looked like that was cutting it close.
Muppet Vision 3D at Hollywood Studios
Over at Hollywood Studios, there are some Muppet changes happening in the park. The classic Muppet Vision 3D attraction will close as part of the mix up.
Why is Muppet Vision closing?
Muppet Vision is closing at Disney World in 2025 to make way for the Monsters Inc. land coming to the park. The Muppet Vision theater will probably be the venue for the new monsters show coming to the land.
When is Muppet Vision closing?
In late 2024, the Disney Parks Blog said fans have plenty of time to experience this attraction still. It turns out that was only a few months as it closes in the summer 2025. The last day to enjoy Muppet Vision 3D is June 7th. If seeing this again is a must, plan a trip before then!
PizzeRizzo at Hollywood Studios
The quick service restaurant PizzeRizzo will be closing in 2025. This is also in the Muppets area of the park. Before having a Muppets theme, this space was themed to Pizza Planet from Toy Story.
Why is PizzeRizzo closing?
Along with Muppet Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo will also close to make way for the world of Monsters, Inc. In the concept art for the Monsters, Inc. land, the PizzeRizzo building appears to be there but repurposed. It could be another quick service restaurant themed to the Pixar franchise.
When is PizzeRizzo closing?
The Disney Parks Blog says PizzeRizzo is closing the same time as Muppet Vision 3D with its last day on June 7th, 2025.
Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano at Hollywood Studios
The table service restaurant Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano closes in 2025 also. According to D23, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano opened at Disney MGM Studios in 1991 but was formerly The Studio Pizzeria.
Why is Mama Melrose's closing?
This is another thing going away to make room for Monsters at Hollywood Studios. Based on the concept art, it seems it will be transformed into Harryhausen's from the Monsters, Inc. film. It's the restaurant that Mike Wazowski takes his girl friend to.
When is Mama Melrose's closing?
The Disney Parks Blog says Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano is closing in 2025 and the last day to dine there is May 10th.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Hollywood Studios
This attraction is kind of closing. At least in its current form. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will technically be no more.
Why is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closing?
Disney announced Aerosmith will actually be replaced by The Muppets. Kermit and the gang are essentially moving across the park. It seems it will still be Rock 'n' Roller Coaster so it will all remain similar to what it has been. The Muppet concept art looks like it has the same ride vehicle. Disney shared that the Muppets are "teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival." It seems we can look forward to popular musicians being featured in the attraction as well.
When is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closing?
If you're a fan of the original version, 2025 may be your last chance to enjoy it as it is. No closing date has been announced yet.
Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom
There's a lot going on at Magic Kingdom these days. The Rivers of America is closing to make way for a large expansion in the park.
When is the Rivers of America closing?
Disney has not shared a closing date for the Rivers of America. It would not be much of a surprise if we saw it close in 2025. The project is massive. In late 2024, it seems Disney is working on attaining the appropriate permits.
Why is the Rivers of America closing?
A brand new villains land and Cars land will open around Frontierland. The Rivers of America is paved over in the concept art for the Cars area.
Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom
This island sits in the middle of the Rivers of America and is destined for something else.
When is Tom Sawyer Island closing?
We don't know when Tom Sawyer Island will close. Catch a raft to the island and explore the caves, tunnels and bridges while you still can.
Why is Tom Sawyer Island closing?
Tom Sawyer Island will become part of the new Cars land coming to Magic Kingdom.
Liberty Square Riverboat at Magic Kingdom
This massive attraction will be going away to clear space for new things.
When is the Liberty Square Riverboat closing?
