There have been some big announcements about what's coming to Disney World over the next few years. Some new offerings will actually replace current attractions. So what is closing at Disney World in 2026? What rides are going away at Disney? Here is what we know so far.

Is Disney World closing in 2026?
Walt Disney World is a year round operation that's open 365 days a year. The parks don't even close for a slower season, they simply adjust the hours to suit crowds of different sizes. Disney World overall is not closing and there are no plans to close the parks and resorts. Disney only completely closes its Florida parks for major weather events like hurricanes. You can expect singular rides or attractions to close temporarily for refurbishments or permanently as Disney changes changes the offerings in its parks.
What's Closing in Disney World in 2026?
Some of these we don't have exact closing dates or time frames for yet but we know that they are closing based on what Disney has shared.
Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom
Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park has a new addition on the way that will bring more Indiana Jones and Encanto at Disney World. This will takeover the Dinoland U.S.A. area of the park including the rocky ride Dinosaur.
When is Dinoland closing?
Some parts of Dinoland U.S.A. have already closed like TriceraTop Spin and Fossil Fun Games. No exact closing date has been shared for the Dinosaur attraction or other parts of the land. Disney has shared that Dinosaur will stay open all of 2025 so we can assume it will close some time in 2026.
Why is Dinoland closing?
Dinoland is closing because it's being transformed into a tropical Americas land Disney announced at the D23 event in California in August of 2023.
The tropical Americas land with the Encanto house and Indiana Jones ride that's replacing Dinosaur is scheduled to open in 2027.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Hollywood Studios
This attraction is kind of closing. At least in its current form. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will technically be no more.
Why is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closing?
Disney announced The Muppets will replace Aerosmith in the popular Rock 'n' Roller Coaster attraction. Disney says the Muppets are "teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival." We'll have to see who is part of the ride when it reopens.
When is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closing?
No closing date has been announced yet. With The Muppets area of the park closing in the middle of 2025, maybe Disney will wait so less of the park is impacted at once.
We're guessing it will close in 2026 if not some time later in 2025.
Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom
The skyline of Frontierland will soon be forever changed. The Rivers of America is closing to make way for a Cars addition in the park.
When is the Rivers of America closing?
Disney has not shared a closing date for the Rivers of America. It would make sense for it to close in 2026 if the Cars project is moving forward.
Why is the Rivers of America closing?
A villains land and Cars land will open in this area. The Rivers of America is paved over in the concept art for the Cars area.
Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom
This island sits in the middle of the Rivers of America and will also go away as part of these changes.
When is Tom Sawyer Island closing?
Disney has not announced a closing date for Tom Sawyer island. This island has caves, tunnels and bridges to explore. Visit while it's still there.
Why is Tom Sawyer Island closing?
Tom Sawyer Island will become part of the new Cars land at Magic Kingdom.
Liberty Square Riverboat at Magic Kingdom
This is another attraction being replaced for the Cars and villains lands.
When is the Liberty Square Riverboat closing?
We do not have a closing date for the riverboat yet.
Why is the Liberty Square Riverboat closing?
The Cars land coming to Magic Kingdom will go over this area.
