It's February already? January seemed to go by in a flash! That means it's time to take a look at the Disney ROFR DVC Stats for January 2022 based on DVC Resale Experts personal sales and data. To remind you, ROFR stands for Right of First Refusal. In Disney Vacation Club contracts, Disney has the ROFR, or the first chance, to purchase a contract back when a Member is selling DVC points.

Each month we bring you the ROFR DVC numbers and statistics along with some thoughts and comparisons on them so you can be informed. ROFR numbers matter the most when you're interested in buying resale DVC points. When placing a bid on a resale DVC contract, you want to do everything you can to price competitively so you have the best chance of a successful sale. If it's priced too low, Disney Vacation Club may take interest in it and purchase it at that price instead. Sometimes DVC seeks to build their inventory with certain resorts and is eager to purchase back contracts at those properties even at higher prices than one might expect. These ROFR buyback statistics are interesting to look at to try and understand Disney's plans for DVC and certain resorts and pricing. Here's what January of 2022 looked like.

Disney ROFR DVC Stats for January 2022

In January of 2022, Disney chose to use their ROFR to buyback about 24% of DVC Resale Experts sales. Out of the 42 contracts presented to Disney, 32 contracts passed and 10 were bought back by DVC.

The resorts affected by ROFR DVC interception last month were: Animal Kingdom Lodge, Bay Lake Tower, Boardwalk, Boulder Ridge, Copper Creek and Old Key West. Resorts that were not bought back by DVC in January of 2022 were: Aulani, Beach Club, Grand Californian, Grand Floridian, Hilton Head, Polynesian, Riviera, Saratoga Springs and Vero Beach.

Among some of the most bought back in Disney ROFR efforts were Boardwalk with 75% of contracts going to Disney, Copper Creek with 50% and Old Key West with 40%. Disney bought back a quarter of the contracts presented at Animal Kingdom and Bay Lake Tower and bought the single Boulder Ridge contract presented. The Boardwalk choice is extra surprising considering the monthly ROFR high price rose $16 per point to $133 up from $117 the month prior but these numbers do tend to fluctuate slightly. From December of 2021 to January of 2022 there was an increase in most of the per point prices Disney paid to buyback.

In a turn of events, as 2021 ended Saratoga Springs was of strong interest for Disney with about 70% of resale DVC contracts there being bought back. In January, Disney chose to pass ROFR on all 6 Saratoga Springs contracts DVC Resale Experts sold. While we can look over these buyback percentages and think about what they might mean, we get the best picture by paying attention over time.

Disney Vacation Club raised prices on four sold out resorts in January of 2022 and Boardwalk is one of them. While a resort may be 'sold out' it's likely Disney does still have contracts available to sell direct. When someone sells a contract back to Disney or defaults on a loan, Disney can take those points and repackage them to be a new, fully priced contract. For a much better rate, price out the average resale DVC points at the resort you're considering buying or adding on at!
