If you’re thinking about becoming a Disney Vacation Club Member, one big question is sure to come to mind. How much does Disney Vacation Club cost? The cost of DVC can vary greatly based on the resort you choose as your home resort and the amount of points you choose to buy. Perhaps the biggest factor in determining the cost of a Membership is whether you decide to buy direct or resale. When buying direct from Disney, prices are generally thousands higher than if you buy a resale contract from a Member that’s selling DVC points.

There are a few differences between resale and direct contracts to note. Mostly that resale doesn’t include special discounts at Disney or access to DVC exclusive events. However, these can seem trivial compared to the amount you’ll save. The real excitement of DVC is annual Disney hotel stays at beautiful resorts and resale usually offers that at the best price. If you’re just discovering and learning about Disney Vacation Club, there’s a lot to know. Let’s go over some pricing examples and weigh the options.

It’s also good to note that the prices shared below are based on information available as of early 2023. This is meant to offer a general idea. These numbers can change at any time as the resale market fluctuates and Disney is known to raise prices throughout the year. How much does it cost to join Disney Vacation Club?

When buying direct from Disney, the cost of Disney Vacation Club is shown online to be starting at $207 per point. This is for the resorts Disney is actively selling at this time which are Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, Disney's Riviera Resort and The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The amount of points needed to qualify for all of the DVC Membership Extras, including discounts, special events and booking flexibility, is 150 points at this time. That point value would typically allot for a weeklong vacation every year in the studio accommodation at a few different resorts. DVC point charts show how long you can book for with certain point values at different resorts and at different times throughout the year. We'll use this point value as a pricing example.

At the rate of $217 per point, for 150 points, the price comes to $32,550.00, plus Disney's estimated closing costs in Florida of $854.05 the total is brought to $33,404.05. This is all estimated and changes without notice. If you are interested in a property other than one Disney is actively selling, availability varies based on Disney's inventory. Prices are not as easily found for these other 'sold out' resorts. Unless approaching Disney directly, the time you're likely to officially hear about prices of other resorts is when per point prices are raised. For example, Disney Vacation Club raised the prices of many home resorts in late 2022, bringing the lowest per point prices at Disney World to over $200. The best priced options are now Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa at $205 per point. Some are much higher like Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort at $275 per point.

How much does DVC resale cost?

Resale Disney Vacation Club is different in a few ways. For starters, most per point prices are much lower. So far in 2022, Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa has sold for an average of $101 per point in price in resale. Disney's Riviera Resort has sold for an average of $131 per point recently and The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has been around $163 per point for resale.

To compare the lowest per point sold out resorts at Disney World mentioned above, resale per point prices at Disney’s Old Key West Resort have been around $98 per point with Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa around $110.00. That's around half the price for DVC resale compared to paying direct prices. Resale DVC prices fluctuate from month to month. What's nice about resale is the ability to openly see availability via listings and all of the details of each contract. There is also great transparency in pricing and the ability to negotiate pricing with resale DVC contracts.

Disney Vacation Club is a large spend but well worth it for those who love staying at Disney's best resorts. Resorts that are being actively sold at $217 per point direct are just under the average direct DVC price of $227. The average resale DVC price as of April 2023 is around $126 per point. The Most Magical Place on Earth: How Much is Disney Vacation Club at Disney World?

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas has a separate Disney Vacation Club building and impressive amenities, called Kidani Village, but also offers DVC villas in the main Jambo House building. Both areas fall under the same home resort. This resort is quite unique because it has its own savannas. It’s possible to spot a giraffe before breakfast or a zebra while dining. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is located near Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and just a short bus ride away from early mornings on Pandora or evenings on Everest. Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is located right next to Magic Kingdom and shares fabulous dining options with the main building at the property. With wonderful firework views and monorail access, Bay Lake Tower is a popular property. Disney's Beach Club Villas is a cozy, nautical inspired resort within walking distance of Epcot. It has the best pool at Disney World with a sand bottom, lazy river and life size pirate ship. Guests can also take the neighboring Skyliner or a boat line to Hollywood Studios. Disney's BoardWalk Villas is in the same great resort area as Beach Club and boasts fabulous, classic interiors. With old Atlantic City charm and an actual BoardWalk with shopping and dining, the BoardWalk Resort is a setting you'll love to spend time in. This next one is tricky because Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort has two different home resorts at one fabulous property. It's possible to choose from Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge or Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and own here.

Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge combines the rustic outdoors with Disney magic and comfort. Just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom, you can enjoy the peace of the outdoors on Bay Lake. Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers a more modern take on nature with some farmhouse finishes. Copper Creek rooms have some beautiful detailing inside like a mesmerizing geode wall installation next to the bath tub. The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is one of the pricier Disney Vacation Club home resorts because of its flagship status. The Grand Floridian is located next to Magic Kingdom and provides monorail and boat transportation and a pathway for guests ready for the extra steps. With its own spa and the finest dining at Walt Disney World Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa stands for luxury. Disney Vacation Club at the Grand Floridian costs $217 per point directly from Disney and around $163 per point on the DVC resale market.

Disney's Old Key West Resort, as the original Disney Vacation Club resort, has been around the longest and has nostalgic touches. The palm tree covered property is lush with Florida charm, homestyle dining and potential for perfect pool days by the sandcastle pool. Disney Vacation Club at Old Key West costs $205 per point directly from Disney and around $98 per point on the DVC resale market.

Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is a more expensive home resort because of it’s location and popularity. Even before it was a DVC resort, the Polynesian enchanted guests with its firework views and delicious family style meals at Ohana. Guests love the rich theming at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Disney Vacation Club at the Polynesian costs $250 per point directly from Disney and around $153 per point on the DVC resale market.

Disney's Riviera Resort is one of the newer DVC home resorts. Inspired by Walt Disney’s European travels, the Riviera has a quaint feel with luxury finishes. With its own Disney Skyliner station, this resort gives you fast access to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort has beautiful grounds and multiple, themed pools to choose from. The Happiest Place on Earth: How Much is Disney Vacation Club at Disneyland?

The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is a much loved resort with its own access to Disney California Adventure. Its craftsman style brings warmth and wonder to the grand lobby. Disney Vacation Club at the Grand Californian costs $320 per point directly from Disney and around $221 per point on the DVC resale market.

The Villas at Disneyland Hotel is under construction as of 2023 and is scheduled to open in September of this year. This Disneyland DVC tower is expected to be very popular as it's the sixteenth Disney Vacation Club resort but only the second at Disneyland Resort.

That leaves us with the three Disney Vacation Club beach properties. You'll notice these are lower in price because, though they are incredible places to vacation, resorts further from the parks are usually more affordable.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas gives Disney Vacation Club owners the opportunity to experience Hawaiian style Disney magic. Imagine meeting Mickey and his pals on the island of O’ahu, floating in a lazy river after enjoying Dole whip and watching a fabulous sunset over the horizon. It’s all possible at Aulani. Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is priced lower than many other home resorts because of its location. Hilton Head Island is a coastal area of South Carolina. By car, it’s about five hours from Disney World depending on traffic. The slow pace, surrounding nature and quaint local charm of Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort keep guests coming back. Disney Vacation Club at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort costs $165 per point directly from Disney and around $66 per point on the DVC resale market.

Disney's Vero Beach Resort is about two hours from Disney World by car, located on the Atlantic Coast. This beach resort has a neat pool, conservation presentations and offers your favorite Disney treats like Mickey ice cream bars. Disney Vacation Club at Disney's Vero Beach Resort costs $150 per point directly from Disney and around $66 per point on the DVC resale market.

Other DVC costs to consider

You'll of course want to compare the difference between buying DVC new or resale. If paying the best possible price for your annual Disney vacation is your top priority, resale is likely to be your best option. Closing costs are also part of the overall Disney Vacation Club cost. If you're financing, you'll need to consider your down payment. To get an idea for how many points you'll need, see the point charts for the resorts you're interested in. Disney Vacation Club Members also pay annual dues which vary by resort and are paid by point. For references on annual dues costs, Disney's Old Key West Resort is $8.81 per point and The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is $7.01 per point. Depending on what refurbishments are needed at that particular resort, annual dues tend to rise slightly every year or so.
