It's March 2025 and spring break will be here before you know it. This month, the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival opens for the season and It's Tough to be a Bug! closes forever at Disney's Animal Kingdom. There have also been some changes in the way you can access some top attractions at Disney World. We've got everything you need to know here for planning purposes. We'll take a look at lots of upcoming dates to know for 2025 along with our regular line up of recent news.

What's New at Disney World March 2025 | Coming to Disney World This Year

Jellyrolls Closing at BoardWalk

It's the end of an era over at Disney's BoardWalk. Jellyrolls dueling piano bar announced the Disney location will close in the coming months. On Instagram, the establishment shared:

"After nearly thirty years on Disney’s Boardwalk, Jellyrolls is making a move! Come celebrate with us into the spring season and keep your eyes on our social media for exciting new updates!"

"To all of our loyal guests - we look forward to sharing exciting news and big announcements! Stay Tuned!"

So it's not goodbye forever, it's just goodbye to Jellyrolls on the Disney BoardWalk. So much has changed in this spot with The Cake Bake Shop replacing the ESPN restaurant, Big River Grille & Brewing Works closing and more. Jellyrolls invites you to celebrate their final day at Disney's BoardWalk.

Virtual Queues Ended at Tiana's and Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disney World no longer use a virtual queue as of February 25, 2025. Now you can ride using standby queue or Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has a standby queue and Lightning Lane Single Pass option.

On the morning these attractions dropped their virtual queues, their standby waits were reasonable. This was late February but both queues were around an hour at times early in the day. These will fluctuate, of course. We'll see what happens as spring break crowds fill the parks.

Which Disney rides have virtual queues?

With this news, that means there are no virtual queues at Disney World at this time. We will probably see this change as new attractions debut and demand is high.

It's Tough to be a Bug! Closes Permanently in March

You may remember that the attraction in the Tree of Life is closing to make way for a Zootopia themed experience. This is instead of the Zootopia land that was once teased for the Disney's Animal Kingdom. The last day to experience It's Tough to be a Bug! is March 16th, 2025. The show will be closed the following day on March 17th, 2025. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! is scheduled to open Winter 2025.

Sebastian's Bistro Closing for Refurbishment

It's not often a restaurant completely closes for refurbishment at Walt Disney World Resort. This one is close to Disney's Riviera Resort and a favorite for some guests so we're mentioning it. Sebastian's Bistro is at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort not far from the main skyliner hub.

Disney's website says:

"Beginning March 24, 2025, Sebastian's Bistro will be closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen at the end of March. Guests may see and hear construction in the area until work is completed. While the restaurant is closed, we invite you to enjoy the many other dining options at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort."

Super Bowl MVP at Disney World

Last month, the MVP of the Super Bowl visited Magic Kingdom the day after the big game. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts paraded through the park before Festival of Fantasy on the main route. Some Disney cheerleader style entertainers and Mickey and friends joined Hurts.

If you love the NFL, this could be a fun thing to include on a trip. The Super Bowl MVP does this every year but sometimes it’s at Disneyland. There’s no special ticket, anyone in the park can see the sports hero on their parade float. 

Disneyland Walt Disney Animatronic Debuts This Summer

Walt Disney’s original theme park celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2025. While we cover Disney World here, this next part will be really exciting for Disney fans. The company teased the first ever Walt Disney audio animatronic would be coming to Disneyland. We now have a date for that: July 17th. This is actually the opening date for Disneyland back in 1955. 

Walt will join the Abraham Lincoln show in the front of the park. There are other 70th anniversary happenings to enjoy so it might be worth making a trip west if you’re a Disney World person.

Recent Disney Stockholder Call

In the last month, The Walt Disney Company had another call for stockholders. This was the first quarter 2025 financial results conference call as Disney's fiscal year starts in October. We sometimes get news or announcements on these. Mostly they are just a reflection of how things are going with business, progress on projects and certain areas of the company and other details those investing in the company might be interested in. Here are a couple of things to note.

The experiences section of Disney had higher costs due to expanding Disney Cruise Line and inflation. Declines in attendance due to hurricanes also played a role in performance.

On the call, someone asked about the roll out of Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Disney says it's a product they are learning how to use, moving slowly to make it a great experience for those who purchase it and those who don't.

Disney+ lost 700,000 subscribers total in October, November and December of 2024. This was after the price of the subscription service went up. This is a significant detail for Disney Parks fans. Disney has been saying for years that what's popular on the streaming service will drive what comes to the parks. As the subscriber base changes, we will have to see how that alters what people are watching.

Blizzard Beach Open into April

The schedule for the Disney water parks is different than we've seen the last few years. As of February, the hours for Blizzard Beach go through at least Saturday, April 5, 2025. The Disney water parks have been operating one at a time since reopening after 2020. Typically, March is the time when Blizzard Beach closes and Typhoon Lagoon reopens. In 2025, Disney has a special offer for resort guests that allows them to visit a water park for free on their check in day.
