Can I Sell My Disney Vacation Club Points?

Disney Vacation Club Points - DVC Resale

At one point, your Disney Vacation Club contract was probably just what you wanted. As vacation styles change or kids grow up, you may be wanting other things out of your travels. Perhaps you’d prefer to sell your DVC contract because that money would be more helpful in other places right now. Sometimes people sell a DVC contract because they have decided they want a different home resort, point value or use year. Whatever the reason, just know you’re not stuck with your Disney Vacation Club points.

Can I Sell My Disney Vacation Club Points?

Yes, you can sell your Disney Vacation Club points. Here’s what you need to know. Disney Vacation Club does not have a resale department. Instead DVC encourages Members interested in selling DVC to find a licensed real estate broker who has experience in handling timeshare. When you sell Disney Vacation Club points, you sell the entire contract, not just some of the points. It’s a complete transfer to the new owner and they take over the annual dues for unused points. Sellers pay a commission and a few small fees from Disney. It’s typically the buyer that pays closing costs though these things are negotiable. Most contracts sell within thirty days and the process overall after that point can take up to twelve weeks. It’s a common misconception that all timeshares can be difficult to part with. That may be true for some but not Disney Vacation Club. DVC is an in demand timeshare that sells at rates Members are happy with. Many Members who have had their contracts for years make much of what they spent on it back when they sell. Those who bought in early, or have had their contract for many years, often sell their contract for more than they originally paid. These scenarios differ on a case by case basis depending on the popularity of the resort but it’s definitely possible. It works out for everyone because even at these per point prices, resale buyers are paying a much better rate than they would buying from Disney directly.

If you’re thinking about buying Disney Vacation Club, it is a big commitment but it doesn’t have to be permanent. It may be right for right now. If things change in the future, know that you’re able to move on and sell your Disney Vacation Club points.
