If you’re considering selling your DVC Membership, one important question is sure to come up. How much can I sell my DVC membership for? Let’s go over pricing your contract, costs associated with selling DVC and helpful tips to get you started.

Selling DVC Points: How Much Can I Sell My DVC Membership For?

How much you can sell your DVC Membership for depends on a few things. The value of your contract has much to do with your home resort. Some are very popular, priced higher and sell faster than others. The amount of points you have is the next detail the price depends on. Remember DVC Memberships prices are by the point. The more points you own, the higher the overall selling price goes based on the per point price of your home resort.

The per point price is also dependent upon the number of points on the contract. Contracts with higher point values usually sell for a little less per point. Those selling Disney Vacation Club Membership with a smaller point value might list for a little higher per point. Strategic pricing is important to efficiently sell DVC points. What is my DVC contract worth today?

Members are often delighted when they see how much their contract has gone up in value since they purchased. If it’s been many years since you joined the club, your return might be more than you originally spent. That’s even after the many, magical vacations you’ve enjoyed.

Let’s take a look at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort for example. This home resort opened in 2004 and sold for around $89 per point at the time. In the summer of 2023, DVC resale per point prices at this resort are going for around $100 depending on the size of the contract. That means, nearly 20 years later, the contract can be sold for more than it cost originally.

Those who bought very early on at Disney’s Old Key West paid around $50 per point and might be able to sell for twice that now. Honestly the numbers mentioned here are even a bit lower than we’ve seen in recent years. During the last half of 2021 and through all of 2022, the DVC average resale per point price at Old Key West was around $115. Is it possible to sell DVC and make money? Apparently so. Even considering annual dues, those who bought early on have really gotten their money’s worth.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort sold for around $112 upon opening in 2010. Just 13 years later, DVC resale points at Bay Lake Tower are selling for around $143 on average. That’s a decent jump in price for that amount of time. Prices for Bay Lake Tower from Disney directly have risen tremendously at this resort. Choosing Bay Lake Tower as your home resort today will cost you $275 per point direct from Disney.

Why do DVC prices go up so much over time?

Disney Vacation Club resale point prices are directly related to direct Disney Vacation Club direct prices. DVC prices overall are related to Disney hotel room prices. As we see prices rise, resale usually follows. Disney is far from immune to inflation. Many have pointed out that some Disney vacation related expenses go up many times the rate of inflation actually. Basic supply and demand tells us that when people want something, the cost might go up to justify that want. The Disney timeshare is very unique in that it’s tied to one of the most beloved companies in the world.

This doesn’t mean prices don’t go down. We won’t see prices drop in the sense of permanent mark downs but sales, specials and promotions can certainly help draw customers when needed. With DVC resale, variables that affect real estate, like high interest rates or economic uncertainty, can also alter the market.
