Disney Vacation Club is the enchanting timeshare that welcomes families, couples and individuals home to the magic every day. Though it can be much more cost effective than paying for hotel rooms at Disney every year, DVC has a larger upfront cost. It’s like paying for many hotel stays, for years to come, all at once. Can you buy DVC with a loan? Yes and you can shop around for lenders and choose where you borrow from. When you buy points directly from Disney, you may have the option to borrow through Disney or choose your own lender. When you buy points on the resale market, you can select the lender of your choice outside of Disney. Below we have some frequently asked questions about DVC loans and answers based on what Vacation Club Loans, a partner of DVC Resale Experts, offers.

Choosing a home resort and budgeting for a DVC Loan

So what’s the best order to consider a DVC loan, your monthly budget and your home resort? Picking a resort is the fun part and you may be able to find a lower cost option if pricing is a top priority for you.

We also have a post listing the length of each DVC contract and how much time they all have left. That’s something else to consider when buying. When it comes to overall value, you may also want to consider not just the per point price, but also the price of annual dues and the length of the contract. The longer a contract is, the more vacations you’ll get to enjoy.

You can get a DVC loan to purchase a Membership at any of the home resorts. DVC resorts span across four different states. Home resort properties include Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort, The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.

Newer resorts have fewer contracts for sale on the resale market. Some resorts, including Riviera and those built after it, have booking restrictions with resale.

Is financing DVC Resale worth it?

Does it still make sense to buy DVC if you take a loan out? Going over the numbers with fine detail will help you determine what’s right for you. If taking out a loan is the only way for you to get DVC and you visit every year, you’ll definitely want to get specific and crunch the numbers. Here are some things to consider in your decision making. Savings with DVC can be significant, savings with resale DVC are even greater. Even if you’re paying interest, it may still be a better value than not being a DVC member. This is going to vary by resort and the price of the contract.

You will also want to compare a DVC loan to how much resale goes up over time. Another reason it might be worth it to take out a DVC loan is that the prices of DVC and resale DVC go up. In predictable times we see resale DVC prices go up a little bit each year. We’ve had an interesting situation the last couple of years with many variables. However, if you look back ten years, prices are much different.
