So you’re thinking about selling DVC points. We’re glad you’re here and we’ve got lots of information on this topic. You’ve got options if you want to sell DVC. DVC Resale Experts has a team of professionals with decades of experience selling DVC membership as Disney Vacation Club Guides. Now, as an outside company, the pixie dusted individuals at DVC Resale Experts are dedicated to helping members sell DVC points or buy resale DVC points. If you’re considering parting ways with the Disney timeshare, there’s a lot to know and you probably have lots of questions. Can you sell DVC back to Disney Vacation Club? Can I actually make money if I sell my Disney Vacation Club contract? How long does it take to sell DVC? If you’re not sure where to start in terms of how to sell DVC membership, we’ve got you covered.

You Want to Sell Disney Vacation Club: Can You Sell DVC Back to Disney?

Disney Vacation Club sells the memberships originally so it seems like they would also help you with resale DVC points right? Although they sell DVC timeshare, Disney Vacation Club does not sell resale for members that want to move on or buy a different contract. They can provide information about selling DVC timeshare but Disney Vacation Club itself does not have a resale department. Disney does make offers to buy certain DVC contracts back from members time to time based on their inventory needs. So the real question is can you sell DVC back to Disney for a decent rate? Members are offered a fraction of the value to buy the contract back. To get the best financial return, members who want to sell DVC hire a licensed real estate broker outside of the company like DVC Resale Experts.

The Basic Process of How to Sell DVC Points

Members choose to list their contracts with a DVC resale broker for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons might be not having to figure out how to sell DVC alone. Disney shares the following outline about the Disney Vacation Club resale process.

Here’s how the resale process works:

  • You will need to find a buyer or list your Membership with a licensed real estate broker.
  • Once a buyer has been identified, you will need to submit a fully executed contract for sale to Disney Vacation Club at wdw.dvc.dvd.resales@disney.com for review at least 30 days prior to the scheduled closing date.
  • If Disney Vacation Club waives the right of first refusal, a closing will take place and all current Dues, fees and outstanding Loan payments will need to be paid in full at the time of closing.
  • Disney Vacation Club Member Administration must be sent a copy of the recorded documents for processing, and the Membership records will be changed to reflect the new owners.

This basic description shares the big picture. Each of these steps can vary in length based on how long it takes everyone involved in each step to take action. Because Disney Vacation Club does not have a resale department, you may find yourself needing answers to certain questions. You might have questions about what needs to be in your contract. Can I sell my Disney Vacation Club Membership if I have a trip booked? What is an estoppel fee? How do I find someone to buy my DVC contract? What if my DVC resell buyer falls through? We have all the answers here. We answer quite a few of these and more in how to sell Disney Vacation Club frequently asked questions but our Experts have so much more insight to provide.

Rent vs. Sell DVC points

If you don’t quite know if you want to sell DVC, we have a large selection of resources here on our blog. It’s always good to be informed and understand how the process works. Learning more and understanding what’s involved if you want to sell DVC might help you decide if it’s the right move for you at this time.

In the meantime, if you don’t plan to use your contract you could use a third party to rent out your points. This is not a permanent move like selling and gives you time to think about things without letting your points go to waste. You will be able to price your contract higher if you have more points available. If you’re even getting anywhere near close to letting any points expire, though, you’ll want to plan ahead for those and use them or rent them out if they can’t be banked.

The DVC resale market isn’t predictable. Just like real estate, there may be pricing patterns to follow but the simplest change in a variable and everything is different. It sometimes appears that the first few months of the year DVC resale prices are lower. That’s not something we can always count on. In 2023, overall prices continued to dip in the spring and early summer.

How Much is My DVC Worth?

Members want to know how to sell Disney Vacation Club and get the greatest return. The Experts have been selling Disney Vacation Club Membership for many years and want to help you do just that! The worth of a DVC contract is usually referred to per point. Just like when you buy DVC from Disney, contracts are priced per point and vary by home resort. Each month we cover the DVC average resale prices from the month before. This is a look at the DVC resale average per point prices for the month on June in 2023. Prices are lower than we’ve seen over the last few years. This is probably due to some course correction after pent up demand fizzled out of the travel industry and big changes at The Walt Disney Company.
