It’s the land of little pink castles, rides in space and fairytale princesses. It’s Disneyland! And if it’s time for you to visit, you might be wondering how Disneyland tickets work nowadays. There are a few more details to be aware of when it comes to planning your visit to the happiest place on earth. Whether you’re interested in including a single day visit on your Los Angeles area trip or visiting Disneyland as your main destination, we’ve got you covered. Let’s go over the basics of what you need to know to be on your way to magical days with this Disneyland tickets 2022 overview.
Disneyland Tickets 2022 Overview
Disneyland Tickets Basics
Remember at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California there are only two parks. If you’re thinking there are four parks, that’s actually on the other coast in Orlando, Florida at Walt Disney World Resort. The number of parks there are definitely has an impact on how many days you’ll want to spend. There are single and multi day tickets to Disneyland.
As of November 2022, pricing starts
at 1 day for $104 per day, 2 days from $143 per day, 3 days from $120 per day, 4 days from $99 per day or 5 days from $83 per day. These prices include access to one park per day. Note that ticket prices change often. Prices are based on demand and much higher at busier times. You will want to check prices close to the time of your purchase. If you want the ability to enjoy more than one park per day, you will need a Park Hopper addition. There is more information on that below.
According to the planDisney panel as of February of 2022, you are able to purchase Disneyland tickets at the gate. However, whether you can enter the park or not does still depend on the theme park reservation
availability. Something else to consider is the California resident ticket offer if you live in the state. This is a special offer from time to time. Annual passes are now called Magic Keys at Disneyland Resort. The program has changed quite a bit in the last few years. All Magic Keys have some sort of blockout period and the prices have gone up considerably. However, park pass reservations are said to be more attainable for pass holders now than when the program first launched in 2021. More details on reservations below.
Disneyland Ticket Park Hopper Add On
The Disneyland ticket Park Hopper add on is $65 per person. How important this is depends on your particular plans. These two parks being so close together makes park hopping a breeze. However, if it’s your first visit, you’ll want to enjoy a full day at Disneyland Park from start to close at least once. I recommend the same for Disney California Adventure Park as well. This is just so you get the full experience, truly spend time in each land and getting to do all the things that are offered at different times throughout the day. After that, it’s on! Pick your favorite shows, attractions and places to eat and hop back and forth to do it all. It’s also a delight to have the option to park hop and see the nighttime show your party loves the most.
What comes with a Disneyland ticket?
Inside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park there are rides, also called attractions, shows and other kinds of entertainment like characters, parades, shops restaurants and more. A ticket to Disneyland does not include parking. That is a separate fee and starts at $30. Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining area, is in the same area but outside of the parks and free to visit.
Disney Park tickets come with a hefty price tag. Know that once you’ve paid to get in, nearly everything inside is included. This means rides, shows, fireworks and more. Food is an additional cost as well as merchandise and any extras like tours. There are also upsell ways to enhance your day like nighttime spectacular reserved seating dining packages. If you’ve been to Walt Disney World, know that it’s possible to get great food at Disneyland’s quick service restaurants. This isn’t always the case on the east coast where pricey restaurants are usually the best options.
Theme Park Reservation System
Don’t forget about the Theme Park Reservation System. This pandemic era extra step was introduced when Disney Parks reopened with lower capacity to allow for social distancing. We’re in a new time but the reservation system and lowered capacity remain. Disney ticket prices vary based on the busyness of the day you’re visiting. Unlike, Walt Disney World, Disneyland has the reservation built into the ticket purchasing process. It’s much more convenient. From Disneyland’s website:
‘Choose all the days you plan to visit. A theme park reservation will be made for the date and park selected at time of purchase. With a Park Hopper ticket, you’ll only need a reservation for the first park you’d like to explore that day. You’ll be able to enter the second park after 1:00 PM and go between the parks, subject to park capacity limitations.’
So while park hopping is available, there are still some limitations. You won’t be able to enter the other park at Disneyland until 1:00 p.m. After that you can switch parks freely. As someone who has enjoyed quite a few trips there myself, that’s part of the magic of Disneyland Resort! With Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park having entrances that face each other, guests can start at one, grab lunch at the other and head back to where they started the day for the night time show if they wish.
Discounted Disneyland Tickets
Disneyland Tickets for Large Groups
There are a few different ways you might be able to take advantage of group discounts for Disneyland tickets. Unfortunately, private family and friend groups are not able to receive group discounts on tickets. Group discounts are reserved for the following special interests.
Disneyland tickets for large groups are
available if it is a youth group. These can be purchased through the Disney Imagination Campus program. Disney actually offers workshops and tailored experiences for youth and school groups. Curriculum topics include performing arts, arts and humanities, science and technology and leadership and innovation. For student group tickets, a minimum of ten is required.
Another option for group discount tickets to Disneyland is through Disney Meetings and Events. This part of the company organizes meetings, conventions and events of different sizes. There are so many incredible spaces at Disneyland Resort that can be transformed for private events. These kinds of group events might include celebrations, trade shows, training sessions or incentive trips. If this is the kind of group outing you’d like to have at Disneyland, contact Disney Meetings and Events for potential group tickets opportunities.
Disneyland Military Tickets
Disney is pretty great about treating service members. It may be possible to receive discounted Disneyland tickets as a member of the military. This is offered through participating US military base ticket offices. For an idea of pricing, 2022 numbers are as follows:
3 Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $225
3 Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Disney Genie+ Service: $285
4 Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $260
4 Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Disney Genie+ Service: $340
