Depending on how you purchase, Disney Vacation Club can provide lots of flexibility in booking. In addition to the fifteen DVC resorts, many Members can book hotel stays using their points at other hotels through an exchange program. The Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Vacation Club and Aulani, Bill Diercksen, recently shared news of additional booking possibilities.
DVC Interval International
In a letter to Members, Bill Diercksen noted the DVC Interval International
“Dear Disney Vacation Club Member,
Today we’re excited to share that Disney Vacation Club® is officially launching a new hotel-booking tool through Interval International®. This new option represents a dramatic expansion of vacation and exchange possibilities, adding even more power to eligible Members’* points and giving you more vacation options than ever before!
Beginning on Monday, this online, self-service tool will curate a list of properties using a combination of points** and cash. Hotel exchange features hundreds and hundreds of well-known hotels from trusted brands in sought-out cities across New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, London and many more! Members can even search available hotels by desired travel dates and destination, filter by brand, and calculate required vacation points.
While the previously offered exchange accommodations through Concierge Collection will no longer be available, most of the luxury resorts that were part of the collection are offered within this new hotel exchange.
Please note that confirmed Concierge Collection reservations will be honored.
We’re delighted to continue to provide you and your family with a whole new world of vacation possibilities!”
In this letter, eligible Members refers to those who have ownership interests purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. This is needed in order to qualify for Disney-branded exchange options and options offered through hotel exchange. The two asterisks note a minimum of 20 points.
Interval International Hotels
The Interval International DVC connection can be helpful for those with extra points to use or those wanting to step outside of the Disney bubble for a trip elsewhere in the world. You can search for options by destination, travel dates, number of points and more. Disney Vacation Club Members need to sign in in order to peruse destinations and point values specifically. Disney Vacation Club Members will be happy to know it’s possible to find comparable accommodations to DVC villas with Interval International. A quick search in the London, England region returns options with a full kitchen and dining table. Resale vs Direct DVC Benefits
This is one of those factors to weigh when considering resale vs buying direct. Resale does not come with every bell and whistle buying directly from Disney does. However, the amount you can save when buying resale makes it absolutely worth considering. If the expanded options are of much importance to you, making sure you’re eligible for Membership Extras like this may really matter. If staying at your home resort and paying an exciting rate for deluxe tier Disney resort hotel stays is your priority, resale is probably your best option. For the best of both worlds, it’s possible to buy the amount of points needed for these kinds of perks directly from Disney and purchase the rest through resale DVC.
