How Does Resale DVC Work?

How Does Resale DVC Work

Maybe you’ve heard that you can buy a Disney Vacation Club Membership at a much lower rate by purchasing resale DVC. It’s true! Many choose to buy a contract, or add on points, through resale DVC rather than buying direct from Disney. Depending on the resort, length left on the contract and the amount of points, you might be able to save more than 30% by going the resale DVC route! That kind of percentage brings a huge amount of savings on an expense this size. So how does resale DVC work?

How Does Resale DVC Work?

Resale DVC is a DVC Membership that an owner is selling. Members sell DVC membership for all kinds of reasons. Some are no longer interested in owning while others want to buy at a different home resort. With resale DVC, it works out for everyone. Disney Vacation Club is always in demand and maintains value, even increasing over time as Disney prices go up.

When a Member wants to sell, they have options. Disney can purchase a contract back but at a much lower price. With resale DVC, it’s similar to other real estate transactions. Sellers contact DVC Resale Experts to list their membership, provide necessary information, sign a contract and the membership is added to the resale DVC listings. Sometimes there is already someone interested in a contract with matching specifications on the DVC Resale Experts Buyer Wish List.

So how does resale DVC work for those wanting to buy a DVC membership? We have a post detailing the entire process, including how long it takes overall, that will be very helpful: How Long Does it Take to Buy Resale DVC? The Membership works the same as if you bought direct from Disney Vacation Club when you book your vacations aside from booking at Riviera which has its own rules for resale Members. Otherwise, you spend points to book at your home resort or other DVC resorts and get to plan incredible vacations as an owner of the Disney timeshare. The main differences between resale and direct are that the price of resale is usually much lower and resale DVC buyers don’t receive the same perks, or Membership Extras, as those who buy direct from Disney. These perks aren’t a guarantee, though, even for Members who purchase direct.
