How Can Disney Guest Relations Know if I Bought My DVC Resale or Direct?

How Can Disney Guest Relations

Disney Vacation Club is the point based Disney timeshare that lets vacationers return year after year to make magical memories at Disney destinations. Depending on how and how many points you purchase, there may also be some magical extras and discounts. There are some important Disney Vacation Club perks that all Members receive whether they buy resale or direct. For example, all DVC Members receive complimentary parking on their stay. From the planDisney panel: ‘Disney Vacation Club Members are not charged for standard self-parking at the resorts when staying at a Disney Vacation Club Deluxe Villa with vacation points or cash or at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel when booked with vacation points.’ DVC resale doesn’t include all of the perks but has massive and measurable savings upfront!

How Disney Confirms if you Bought DVC Resale or Direct

With Disney Vacation Club, how does guest relations determine if you bought resale or not? It’s important to know because of course you want to make sure you get all of the benefits or perks you qualify for. When determining eligibility for Disney Vacation Club Membership Extras, guest relations will look at your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card. Disney Vacation Club Membership Cards are now digital, as of 2022. You can access your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card in the My Disney Experience App.

In order to qualify for all Membership Extras and perks, new Members need to buy 150 points direct from Disney, not through resale DVC. There are still excellent perks that apply to all Disney Vacation Club Members like the aforementioned parking and access to Top of the World Lounge. Guest relations, or anywhere you’re verifying your DVC status, will look to see if your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card is blue or white. A blue Disney Vacation Club Membership Card means you qualify for all of the perks, benefits or discounts available. A white Disney Vacation Club Membership Card gives you access to fewer perks. Note that if you already have a blue card, adding on points through DVC resale will not change your status.

Disney Vacation Club says, “Effective June 3, 2021, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 150 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc.” If the DVC member extras and benefits are a must for you but you also want the DVC resale savings, we recommend buying the minimum amount of points direct then purchasing the rest resale.

Disney Vacation Club also shares that ‘benefits are subject to change or termination without notice, may require the payment of a fee and cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions.’ This is something you’ll definitely want to weigh when considering buying DVC resale or direct. None of the perks are definite and, as we’ve seen over the last few years, benefits and extras can be paused or canceled by Disney Vacation Club at any time. However, if you purchase DVC resale, the financial savings you receive upfront are definite and significant for most contracts!
