How Does Disney Ticket Counter Know If I Bought My DVC Resale or Direct
To qualify for all Disney Vacation Club Membership Extras and perks, Disney Vacation Club states, “Effective June 3, 2021, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 150 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc.” Not through resale DVC. There are still perks that all Disney Vacation Club Members get like complimentary parking on hotel stays and access to Top of the World Lounge. However, in order to qualify for all extras new Members must now purchase 150 points directly from Disney.
To determine eligibility for Disney Vacation Club Membership Extras, a cast member will look at your digital Disney Vacation Club Membership Card. Disney Vacation Club Membership Cards went all digital in 2022 and are accessed through the My Disney Experience App.
Keep the following in mind if you’re considering whether to buy Disney Vacation Club resale or direct. No Disney Vacation Club Membership Extras, perks, or discounts are permanent or promised. Disney Vacation Club says, ‘benefits are subject to change or termination without notice, may require the payment of a fee and cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions.’ As we’ve seen over the last few years, things can change at any time. The Annual Pass discount was an exciting perk for DVC Members with a blue card. For many, the most financially appealing perk. Then the Annual Pass system was restructured entirely. We’ve seen Member events like Moonlight Magic be canceled for years before being brought back. Remember for some events, you also need to have a room booked to attend which either invites you to play with chance or book an extra trip. There’s also the point that if the Disney Vacation Club dining and merchandise discounts are enticing you, it’s possible you may have a similar discount available to you already. If you have an Annual Pass or Disney Chase Visa, those come with their own discounts. The discounts can’t be stacked so you may already have what you’re looking for.
On the contrary, if you purchase DVC resale, you can see the financial savings upfront! With savings so substantial, some choose to buy a higher point value than they originally estimated when purchasing DVC resale and still stay within their budget. The perks can be fun but remember the real benefit of DVC is taking magical vacations year after year.
If getting all the DVC member extras and benefits is really important to you, we suggest buying the minimum amount of points direct, currently 150, then purchasing the rest resale. If you are eligible for all the perks, meaning you have a blue card, adding on points through DVC resale will not affect your status.
