What is DVC Resale?

What is DVC Resale?

Amazing themed properties, neat transportation you can take to the parks, incredible pools and delightful restaurants with dishes you’ll be craving later are all part of the magic of Disney Vacation Club. There’s so much to love but there are also quite a few things to consider including the price. DVC Resale is really exciting for those interested in buying Disney Vacation Club at the best possible price. It’s also a great solution for those who are considering selling DVC points. So what is DVC resale?

What is DVC Resale?

DVC resale is the term for Disney Vacation Club contracts sold by someone other than Disney. You can either buy direct from Disney or buy resale from a Member. You are basically buying someone else’s Disney Vacation Club contract but then it becomes your own with your name on it. Resale DVC is legal, organized and transactions are overseen by professionals. There is a whole resale DVC market outside of Disney where Members sell their points. It’s possible to find a resale DVC contract at any resort and for any point value. Resale DVC works the same as buying from Disney, you just don’t receive all of the extras perks like discounts and access to DVC events. The best part, though, is how much money you can save buying resale. At the time this was written, Disney’s lowest direct per point price at Walt Disney World Resort was $190 at Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. On the resale DVC market, this resort has a recent average of $116 per point in price. If you’re buying 150 points, that’s a savings of $11,100 if you buy resale instead of direct!

I can sell DVC points?

Yes! It’s possible to sell DVC points. Disney Vacation Club has gotten more expensive over the years and the resale market reflects those increases in value. If you’ve decided for any reason Disney Vacation Club is no longer a good fit for you, get in touch today. There may be someone out there waiting for a contract just like yours. DVC is different than other timeshares in that many contracts continue to rise in value over time. You can reach out for a complimentary valuation of your contract or use our online DVC value estimation request.

It’s not possible to only sell some of your DVC points. You can, however, sell the whole Disney Vacation Club contract in its entirety. Sellers also transfer associated fees moving forward, like annual dues, over to the new owner. If you’ve decided you don’t want to be a Member any more or you’re done with a particular contract for any reason, you can absolutely sell DVC points.

Disney Vacation Club does not have a resale department and will not give you information regarding the value of your contract. Instead the DVC site guides Members interested in the value of their points to, ‘contact a licensed real estate professional who has experience in handling timeshare to obtain a current market value of your Disney Vacation Club Membership.’ In the Frequently Asked Questions section on reselling DVC, the Disney Vacation Club website advises Members to ‘independently find a licensed real estate broker’ to assist with selling a Membership.

Why do people choose to sell DVC contracts?

People choose to sell DVC contracts for a variety of reasons. Sometimes Members would rather use the money on something else. It’s also possible someone is choosing to sell their DVC contract because they want a different home resort. Perhaps a new property has opened, or an addition has been added to another resort, and they would rather have that as their home resort. There also Members who have a change in taste and just choose to vacation elsewhere. Whatever the case, it’s possible to sell DVC points to someone else, close that chapter and walk away with the proceeds if you choose to do so. Someone will be delighted to be the new owner of the contract!
