Where Can I Use DVC Resale Points?

Where Can I Use DVC Resale Points

Buying DVC resale points is a great way to become a Disney Vacation Club Member or add on to your current points at the best possible rate. There are a couple of things to know before you jump in. For starters, you might be wondering, ‘where can I use DVC resale points?’ This question has a few answers and it actually depends on what property you choose as your Home Resort. DVC has a great flexible booking program that is point based but there are some restrictions.

Where Can I Use DVC Resale Points?

If you purchase a resale DVC contract at one of the original 14 Disney Vacation Club Resorts, you can use DVC resale points there and at any of the other original 14 resorts. Remember you’ll always have an advantage booking at your Home Resort. You can book 11 months out at your Home Resort and 7 months out at other eligible resorts. Of the original 14 Disney Vacation Club Resorts, the following are located at Walt Disney World: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s Boardwalk Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. There is also Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland Resort in California, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in Vero Beach, Florida two hours from Walt Disney World, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii. If you buy DVC resale at one of these Home Resorts, you are not able to book at Disney’s Riviera Resort with your points.

Where Can I Use DVC Resale Points if Disney’s Riviera Resort is my Home Resort?

Disney Vacation Club changed some things in January of 2019 with the anticipated debut of Disney’s Riviera Resort coming later that year. If you don’t purchase from Disney directly and choose Disney’s Riviera Resort as your Home Resort, you can only use DVC resale points at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This might not matter to some who love Riviera’s excellent location, chic decor and Disney Skyliner access. If you’re looking for flexibility in booking with resale DVC points, one of the other resorts mentioned might be a better fit.

The way Disney Vacation Club worded it, it’s possible and even likely that new DVC resorts will fall in line with the same rules as Disney’s Riviera Resort when it comes to resale and booking. Meaning if you purchase resale at a newer resort you will only be able to use points there and not at other resorts. This is an assumption and it’s best to verify the specifics of each contract before purchasing.
