What to Offer on DVC Resale

What to Offer on DVC Resale

Disney Vacation Club is a happy addition to so many families and it’s easy to see why. Years of guaranteed Disney trips, making wonderful vacation memories together and calling your favorite resort home all sound fantastic, right? DVC resale provides the opportunity to buy a Disney Vacation Club Membership at a lower cost than buying direct from Disney. You might be wondering specifically just how much lower though. Let’s talk about some variables that guide us and help us know what to offer on DVC resale.

What to Offer on DVC Resale

DVC resale prices vary depending on the resort, point value and other details. Once you’ve decided which Disney Vacation Club property you’d like to be your Home Resort, the number of points that suits you and a Use Year you’d like, it sounds like you’re ready to start considering some resale DVC listings. When it comes to placing a bid, what to offer on DVC resale depends on a few things. A good place to start is to consider what the DVC average resale price has been on comparable listings. We’re always looking to inform potential buyers and have a few resources that can help with this like our DVC Average Resale Price 2021 post where we go over our actual per point averages from the year. We also have a monthly series covering the numbers, our most recent one being the DVC Average Resale Price January 2021 edition. The recent per point resale values can be helpful in determining a good starting point.

What to Offer on DVC Resale to Avoid Right of First Refusal Buyback

Another thing to consider is the Right of First Refusal. When someone wants to sell their Disney Vacation Club Membership on the DVC resale market, it’s written in the contract that Disney has the first opportunity to purchase it back. The Right of First Refusal (ROFR) comes into play after a seller finds a buyer. Disney considers the price the DVC Membership is being sold for under contract and is able to buy it back instead of the buyer if they choose to. Disney is a business and works to achieve their own goals, purchasing contracts back for various reasons. There isn’t a way for anyone to tell if Disney will purchase an individual DVC resale contract back or not but we can look at trends and weigh the odds. Annually and each month we share statistics from our ROFR data. Our most recent posts are the ROFR DVC 2021 Annual Stats and the Disney ROFR DVC Stats for January 2022. Seeing the per point amounts Disney has recently spent on ROFR DVC resale buybacks can also help guide you in pinpointing a price.
